West Winds Blow
While I’ve been through some freezing rain storms before, never have I experienced something like this before (at least as an adult). Quite literally, my driveway was (and currently is) a 3 to 4 inch slab of ice!
I had to use both salt and sand on my driveway so my kids wouldn’t slip and bonk their heads!
My car was so badly frozen, that I had to get a wrench and chip away the ice on the door seams of my car just to open the passenger side (this side was less thick. I then started the engine and let it run for 10 minutes, just so I could have a chance to get the ice off of my windshield.
I’m constantly amazed how I think I know my surroundings well, and boom, something blows me away…
My Favorite Reads of the Week:
Everyday Tips and Thoughts: Winter Storm Preparation Tips – I like this post because these are great tips and they go well my the topic of my weekly review “Ice Storm”. I also like that between the lines you get a taste of what it is to live where Kris lives and how they overcome these challenges.
Budgeting in The Fun Stuff: Cheap and Easy Corn Souffle – My mouth is watering, what a great looking recipe! I’m always looking out for easy things to make that a simple guy like me can make.
Invest it Wisely: Heating with Body Heat the Future of Frugality? – This is just a plain outright cool article (even if it’s a guest post). I love articles like this, plus I’m a sucker for any Matrix related pics!
Squirrelers: Stock Returns by Month: Interesting Historical Trends – What a great bar charts on the typical returns per month. This might be a good guideline for investing in a normal average year.
Watson, Inc: Surprising Trend In Mortgage Defaults – Shawn once again was able to surprise me with the fact that he discovered about strategic defaults predicted to be higher than they were in 2010. This is just wrong, I wish people weren’t so selfish!
Another busy weekend, even though it was challenging, I’ve decided to focus on the great times I had with my son, it really made me glad that I’m a lucky dad with a great son (and daughter too).
