Money Reasons – Kids Grow Up Too Quickly

September 18th, 2011

Weekly Thoughts

Well, it’ official, my son is now taller than my wife.  As they were standing next to each other, I noticed that he looked an inch or so taller than my wife.  She wasn’t standing straight up, but once they both did, he still had her by a hair.

Yep, my son is becoming quite a young man!  It seems like he’s getting bigger and stronger by the week anymore.  I’ve come to realize that his weaknesses are really just my weaknesses that he has picked up on.  Now I’m working to change my behavior.  This is no easy task!  So far this year, he has straight As like he did last year.  So what little weaknesses he does have they are minor.

My daughter, while still shorter than my wife by a large margin is getting bigger too, and more beautiful and intelligent every day.  I never known anybody quite like her!  Ever since she was about 1 or 2, you could look in her eyes and see that she’s something special.  At 2 or 3, she seemed unreal to me, to perfect, she has such a presence!  People gravitate to her.

The point of the observations of my kids is that they are growing up quickly, too quickly in fact!  I wanted to do so much with them both, but they are growing up right before my eyes.  Kind of like a weed that grows an inch or so every day.  I really need to spend more time with them before they are out on their own!  Life moves fast when you have kids…

Conclusion:

My son had an awesome soccer game, he was everywhere the ball was, it was amazing, perhaps the best game that I’ve ever seen him play!  I need to start to bring my camcorder to capture these moments!  Same applies with my daughter’s games too, she’s even playing up a level!

Hope everybody had a great weekend!

Sunday Cache and Fall is in the Air

September 11th, 2011

Weekly Thoughts:

Yes, Fall is definitely in the air, the mornings are darker and the days are getting cooler.  While some may get sad, I love fall.  The crispness in the air, the spookiness of the nights, the crinkling of the dried out leaves falling from the trees, and of course the beauty of the colors in a forest.  It’s kind of like each tree is a fireworks display of awesome colors!

While not all understand how incredible Fall is in the area, those of us that do get it, love it.

It’s a busy weekend so I’ll keep this article short, but here are some other articles to check out this past week by some incredible PF Bloggers:

MR Cache: Try Window Shopping Instead of Buying

August 21st, 2011

Weekly Thoughts:

Today, we went out to eat at the restaurant called Max & Ermas.  Since there was a Best Buy close by, we all went to check out the latest prices on TVs.  I was amaze to find that 46 inch HDTVs (LED and LCD at 120MHz , 1080p) were running from $499 to over $1,000.  I saw once that was running at $700 that I was really tempted to buy.

Luckily, I left my Best Buy Gift Certificates at home so I ended up just window shopping.  Normally, I don’t go to Best Buy much, but since we were in the neighborhood, we stopped to see what’s going for sale these days.  I have to admit, I was impressed with everything, especially how Apple now has a presence at the store, wise move on Best Buys part!

The stock market was been a continual rollercoaster lately.  I wonder what next week will yield (pun intended).

Today’s going to be a short post, this week and weekend has been very busy and I’m worn out…

MR Cache: The Year Is Half Over and Now It’s Time To Get Up And Run!

July 24th, 2011

Weekly Thoughts:

Well, we are past the half-way mark for the year!  I’ve slowed down my accomplishments quite a bit until now.  For some reason I feel that I should really pick things up and start to sprint for the rest of the year.  I’m not sure if it’s the motivational article called “How to Increase Motivation and Succeed” by the Financial Samurai or because I know that I have slowed down and it’s now time to do a full out sprint to the end of the year.

It could be the iPod touch that my son got for his birthday made me realize that the technology world has moved on past the old palm pilots of the past and now is very exciting and friendly!  I have to admit, I really want an iPod touch or Android equivalent!  Since the iPod touch sync up with various email programs, just having it hook to my google calendar would be awesome!

These past few days, I’ve really enjoyed my deck!  I’ve been sitting out under the umbrella in a chair reading Money Magazine and Technical books.  It’s so hot that it feels like I’m on vacation, and that’s wonderful!  Perhaps I could do both, speed up with my work and still enjoy the outdoors at the same time.

Time to work on the looks of this blog, so here are some blogger articles to read…

Weekly Conclusion

Next week I will be on vacation!  I’m going to try and blog while I’m on vacation, but it might be difficult.  After a cool winter and a wet spring, Summer is just right, albeit a bit hot.  I’m playing around with the idea of starting more online sites, so now it’s time to do some thinking!

Time to get our second wind and starting running like an antelope!

Have a great weekend!

MR Cache: Losing Wealth Because Of Insecurities

June 26th, 2011

Weekly Thoughts:

I was watching a show called Flipping Vegas, when the people who was doing the flipping discovered a hidden wall in the closet.  They tore down the fake drywall sheeting, and they discovered a safe behind the wall.  Now throughout the show, they tried to open the safe. then at the end of the show, they blew it up, and they found silver bars and paper money!

While it was exciting to see the safe get blown up, I felt sad for the family that was socking it away behind that fake wall.  Losing the safe like that means that the owners of the safe, got old and forgot it was there, or died and there kids didn’t know about it.

So here are these flipper, and they are making off with at least $20,000 extra just from the silver and cash (maybe even more money than that).  It’s just sad to see the money sitting behind a fake wall.  It would be especially sad if the previous owner’s family needs it now…  They really should have put that money in the bank or in investments (perhaps bonds).

The moral of the story is don’t let insecurity rule your finances.

Conclusion

Sometimes if you playing it too safe, you still lose it all.  Besides who wants to die with a lot of money in a hidden wall while not enjoying that money?  Perhaps they were afraid the world was going to end?

Update (July 6, 2011):  While the message of this post is valid, I just used “Flipping Vegas” as an example that has a wide viewing audience.  The show “Flipping Vegas” is a TV show, so even though they showed a safe, I’m not entire sure I believe that it wasn’t some type of show fabrication to make the show have more pizazz!  I also doubt that in the same episode that the workers dropped that marble counter-top by accident…

Cheers,

MR
