Buying Black Friday Sales Online

Well, I took the plunge spending $574 on Black Friday online purchases this year.

I’ve decided to buy a new hosting service for my websites.  Now on the surface, this might seem odd since I can have unlimited domains on my site with my current host.  The primary reasons I decided to make this purchase are because of speed and reliability.  While my current host has been decent, I think that the jump to the HostGator could provide more speed and stability.  I’m keeping my current host too, but if the jump to my new host pans out, I might move everything over.

My next two purchases were SEO software, but that’s boring and nobody gets into that so I’ll skip it.

My final purchase was a new Canon PowerShot SX150 Camera!

Canon SX150 Camera

Canon SX150 Camera

This particular Camera was $100 off the original price of $250, but the real selling point was the 12x optical zoom (we all know that digital zoom sucks)!  That means I’ll be able to take pictures of things that normally would be very difficult for me to capture!

You may have noticed that everything I mentioned above is for my blog site!  I didn’t really spend anything on myself or for my family.  My family shopping was done a long time ago.

Well, this Black Friday has been the most I have ever spend on Black Friday.  In fact, if you add the amount that I spent on all of the previous Black Fridays days, this day tops them!  The funny thing is I expect to spend more next year, if all goes well!

Regards,

Don

    • Well, primarily a new premium theme package. I discovered that my beta theme has issues that might be hurting my SEO score…

      • I just bought the Lifestyle theme from StudioPress. The theme I have now has been customized to the point I can’t change simple things on my blog, like sidebar width. And that bugs the heck out of me! They have a 25% off sale going until 5:00 PM PST Cyber Monday.

    • Yes! I believe that this camera will allow my to expand my image library vastly (or so I hope).

Video is on my radar too, but I’m too busy presently… Perhaps next year!

    • You caught me 🙂

Even the camera is for my online businesses. The 12x zoom will make things possible that weren’t there before! I’m stoked!

    • Thanks!

I discovered a problem with my current theme and the way some of the meta data is being formed. So I decided to take the premium theme splash and buy on to replace it with.

    • Thanks!

I’m hoping HostGator will do wonders from a speed perspective for me blog. Time will tell. Now I just need time to switch it over…

  1. Good luck with the jump and transition!

One thing I’ve realized is that whatever host we go to, there are always problems. But, if it’s priced right, why not!

I spent about $500 so far as well. However, I used an online income Challenge I wrote about on Yakezie.com to do so.

    Best, Sam

    • Thanks!

Yes, I agree, I’m sure I’ll have a few problems with my new host too. I just have a feeling that their technology might be a little better.

I haven’t done as well with online income as some. I’ll have to read your article. 🙂

Time has been a scarce resource for me anymore.

  2. Good jump on the camera. Interesting thoughts on the premium theme. I’m also considering an upgrade, but not because I thought it was impairing SEO. I hope that’s not one of the reasons my blog is still in PR2 land.

    • I hope so too!

I don’t really have a camera for taking pictures now, and I’ve been thinking about buying one for taking pictures for this blog for a long time. 🙂
